We have 2 varirties of sodalite, one is from Brazil, this has white veins to the material and the other is from Namibia (South Africa), which has orange/pink veins. Other than the colour of the veins the materials are otherwise very similar to each other in hardness, and colours of medium to dark blue and black and white calcite. As it is a softer more fragile stone it is recommended for larger pieces and limited to plugs, labrets. Inlays are also possible if of even thickness; so larger cabs.
